font release

Hi there,

I'm a graphic design student and a relatively new user of FontLab Studio 5. I'm currently working on a typeface in Fontlab Studio that I'm hoping to release commercially. A tutor suggested that I should try to see if I can export the final OpenType/TrueType files in a 'locked' format, to prevent others from being able to easily open, edit and rerelease the typeface. However, as a beginner I don't yet know how to do this in FontLab Studio.

Any instructions would be gratefully received,

Many thanks,

Joe

One of TypeTogether's latest releases, the Abril type family, keeps growing. We added two new fonts to the display part of this successful typeface. Abril Display Black and Abril Display Black Italic grant yet a bolder and more contrasted option that is suitable for the biggest headlines and signs.

Dezcom Typefaces is proud to announce the release of "Dez Yinznat Stencil," a tough typeface with an industrial quality.

"Dez Yinznat" is a condensed stencil Opentype-savvy sans serif inspired by the industrial city of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Stencil type was often used in the steel mills, scrap metal yards, railroads, warehouses, and other industrial institutions of Pittsburgh and is almost a signature for the City.

The name comes from combining two colloquial expressions common to Pittsburgh. "Yinz" is used there like "You'all" is used in Southern States. "n'at" or sometimes "N@" is used to replace "and that" when ending a phrase.

Alphabet Soup Type Founders and Michael Doret are proud to announce the release of the “Steinweiss Script” family on MyFonts.

These fonts began began their journey towards daylight when Michael Doret was asked by Taschen Publishing to do cover lettering for the huge commemorative edition they were putting together on the work of Alex Steinweiss—“The Inventor of the Modern Album Cover”. The lettering was to be created to appear similar to the famous “Steinweiss Scrawl” the calligraphy that Steinweiss had used on countless album covers:

Hello type community,

I'm here to anounce a new release from my independent foundry. That's Alegria, a display type family designed for joyful communication. It is composed by Alegria Roman (with upper/lowercase and oldstyle figures), Alegria Caps (with uppercase, small caps and lining figures), Alegria Bright (am open face small caps version) and Alegria Fill (that can be used as a second layer with Bright or Caps faces to create multiple colors on the text).

Alegria familyis already available to purchase at MyFonts. I hope you enjoy it! :-)

http://bit.ly/whimmusic

''Whimsical Musical'' is a vivid hand drawn font with 405 alternate letters, all caps. Developed from a lighthearted drawing in my sketchbook saying the German word MUSIK cheerfully over and over in twenty vivid variations. Next to it was the date "6th April 2007." This initial idea has burst into a font that is full of surprises and whimsical turns. It is dynamically suggestive, like music, and humorously chaotic, as in Dada.

Zebramatic - A Lettering Safari

Zebramatic is a font for editorial design use, to create headlines and titles in eye-catching stripes. Constructed to offer flexible and a variety of graphical possibilities, Zebramatic type is easy to use. The font is offered in three styles: POW, SLAM and WHAM. These styles work both as ready-made fonts and as patterns to create unique, individualized type. The font design’s full potential is unleashed by layering glyphs from two or all three styles in different colors or shades.

Ciseaux Matisse is a font family with 4 styles inspired by Henri Matisse's Drawing with scissors.

The Cut-Out style is a paper-cutout, boxed is the paper background. Both Linear and Boxed Linear have no bezier handles so they are more aggressive.

As drawing with scissors implies, all characters are cut by hand. With only uppercase letters, this font is designed for editorial use.
