internship

I am currently a senior at the American University Dubai, majoring in graphic design. However I have a strong liking towards type design and I was wondering if anyone could recommend good type design firms to intern at.

I was and still am working on a typeface that I created for my senior project.

The typeface that I am working on is based on the Devanagri script however is an adaptation to the latin typeface futura. I have worked independently on the typeface teaching myself how letterforms work. I was determine to get my basics right and therefore flew out to India for 5 days where an Indian type designer ( Prof. Mahendra Patel) guided me as I had no faculty member on campus or in Dubai to help me understand the script and build my sensitivity towards letterforms.

To Whom I may concern,

Hello Everybody, I was hoping to get some help and maybe get pointed in some good directions as I start applying for internships for the summer. I'm currently a Junior at Iowa State University for Graphic Design and I've spent a large amount of my time researching and applying for internships at a variety of firms. However, considering my passion for typography and my interest in type design I'm keeping an eye out for any internship openings at type foundries in the US. I know some of the larger ones and have either made contact with (or am in the process of contacting): Hoefler & Frere-Jones, House Industries, Emigre, T.26, and The Chank Company.

So I am currently performing an exhaustive search over the internet to find an internship calling my name in NYC. I'm a senior at the Savannah College of Art and Design and am looking for an internship over the Summer of 2011. I will do next to anything (my soul is up for bid on ebay as we speak) to further my passion for graphic design in NYC. I am very interested in web design, typography, logo design, and package design...but am willing to turn to the dark side (joke) :) advertising if I needed.

Anyone have any advice I can take and run with? Or maybe even some comments?

thanks a bunch, guys!

I am a design student with a love for type and print as well as the challenges of type and web. I am looking for some good places to look for a job.

I'd love to work in book design/layout, but I enjoy all kinds of design. I'll be in NYC and Boston next month and would like to visit some places (I'll send out a little self promo piece prior to arriving). Anyone have any tips of some typographically fantastic design agency places?

If you know of some great places to work, and they aren't in NYC/Boston, please tell as well!

Thanks!

Evan
