full_fonty's picture

Hello.
I am new to this forum.
I am having difficulty IDing a typeface used in the picture below.
The typeface i am interested in this is the part that says :

I'VE GOT A FEELING
(EDIT)

3:34

monaco promo CD sleeve

I have looked through several type reference books
and I just cannot seem to find a match. I would be very grateful if someone can ID it for me.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to getting a response very soon.

Regards,
FS

Hello.
Thank you for your help.
Is Shiftype.com the only place where this font can be bought from?
Thank you again in advance.

Regards,
FS

I think so. I haven't seen it anywhere else.
You could also take a look at Simon Schmidts custom version (not for sale though).

Thanks again.
The type that says "monaco' is Horatio, right?
The kerning has been altered, though.
If not, please advise me of a better match.
Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,
FS

Horatio it is indeed, with negative kerning.

Horatio OK. But not the medium.

Oh dear, have I stepped on someone's toes? ;) Lighten up, Koeiekat! BTW Which weight do you think it is?

Bald Condensed's picture

Methinks this looks too light and this is too bold. Then again, I could be wrong. What other weights are there for Horatio?

After a little Photoshop experiment, I can tell it

Or they could have done that MM-magic with Illustrator's interpolation tool. I've tried that before, and with some typefaces it's possible. You've got to be extra careful though and double-check if all data points are corresponding.

And it's certainly not improbable that they've gone through a bit of customizing for the band's name. Just like they probably did for Shakira's... =D

You know, I've got a feeling, too -- that Troubleman isn't just a catchy name Yves came up with for his band. No, I think that name has been trailing Yves for quite some time...
