After a fit of depression for not receiving any help, I dredged my way through the more Germanic parts of the internet and went from DIN FF->DIN 1451->DIN 16/17 where I think I have found my answer.

If anyone could show me to be right/wrong I would love to either close the book on this, or keep digging.

Thanks in advance.

DIN is an appropriate approximation. You can look here (http://typophile.com/node/72681) for a discussion based on an older map. And you could look for "template" on Typophile or MyFonts for further suggestions.
