Hello everyone
I'm currently looking for an ultra condensed serif typeface
to complement Akzidenz Grotesk bold condensed.
This is to be used uppercase on a logotype and the intention
is to create an interesting and beautiful contrast between
old/traditional/delicate and modern and bold.
Thanks very much

Spire and Corvinus come to mind. Or Bodoni Campanile.

How about Kepler Condensed? Being insipired to the "Modern" typefaces period (late XIX century), it should fit with Akzidenz Grotesk.

Font Bureau has losts of narrow serifs on offer – for display, headlines, deck or bodycopy – since they do extensive work in the newspaper/magazine field.
Here is a quick search for “narrow serifs” but there are many more suitable. Check the specimen on their website http://www.fontbureau.com/fonts/serif

I find a quick way to browse is to flip through a one-line specimen. But not every foundry produces one of these anymore. A printed Font Bureau one-line specimen can be requested. It’s also available for PDF download.

There’s a more recent supplement covering additions to the library since 2008:

but I don’t think that’s available for download yet.

You are absolutely right. Wish someone would get me some printed Font Bureau specimen one day …
