Hello – please help identify this typeface. View it here
http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/9308379016/1/tumblr_lqejq6XGDf1qhyco6
It is similar to Futura, but with the exception of the "C" and "a" characters. It has a closer feel to Caslon's Egyptian, in that the aperture of the "C" curls inwards, instead of being "cut-off" vertically as does the "C" in Futura.
Please let me know if you know the name!!
Also, on another note, are there any contemporary typefaces designed in a similar style to this one that you know of?!
Thanks very much!
Best,
JH

I'm not sure what that gothic is called, but a really close contender is Neutraface No. 2 Display Bold by Christian Schwartz. You can find it at http://www.houseind.com/fonts/neutraface2.

Thank you, type addict and mimimalista!
type addict: this one is extremely close, although I think the lowercase "a" is somewhat different. I have seen this font (not the one you suggested, but the one I am looking for) on old clocks from... the 1920s - 30s ? I think...

Hey!
I need to purchase just ONE or TWO styles/weights! (only packages of the typeface are available through House Industries, and this is too expensive for me!) Can anyone suggest any alternatives?!
THANKS!

Brandon Grotesque might be an option:

A close match dating from the modernist era would be Erbar.

I wouldn’t say Erbar. From the image, which is low quality, but it shows enough, I would say it’s Wagner & Schmidt’s Kristall Grotesk, of which I am unaware if a digital version exists.
Its feeling on the page is very different from Erbar, and also from Futura, especially due to the peculiar form of the lowercase [a] and other letters.
