Do u think I can directly ask the Designers of these fonts if I can use them, telling them I am going to mention their name and/or foundries as well as font names? Do you think I can do that, or that's totally ridiculous?
Hey, I have a similar question.. I'm doing this poster, and the client requested DIN 'or something similar'. I've tried DIN and it looks pretty sweet, but it's so incredibly overused right now to the point of being ridiculous.
It looks like I'll be using the uppercase letters only. Any suggestions? Oh, and I would be willing to make a purchase.
I don't know if you philes have seen it already but doesn't [edited by moderator] look too similar (for not to say identical) to Spiekermann's ITC Officina Sans?
Ain't it somewhat illegal? But as long as this rip is up there we have to admit that it's still possible to find decent type from there...
Try searching a bit yourself: amongst the masses of poor quality rubbish there are some hidden gems to be discovered. If you can't pay, you should at least be prepared to put in the effort in order to find them. I'm not going to do all the work for you.
Make sure to always read the license agreement or Read Me file!
Sorry, Hendrik, it's already bad enough DaFont lists numerous rip-offs, so we have a policy on Typophile not to point directly to pirated versions of commercial fonts. I edited out your link, no harm done, don't worry.
To answer your questions: yes we are aware of this, and it is very illegal, not just "somewhat".

I'll bare it on my mind -- sorry & thanks -- for those real free ones you mentioned above.

Try here. But I doubt you'll find anything decent for free.

That's pretty ridiculous.
But you never know ...

FontFont offers FF QType Extended Book for free download.
The four free typefaces offered by MacRhino are top quality stuff,
as are Fountain's Pro Bono Fonts. Font Boutique's Samba is very
nice as well.

If you need alternatives for FF DIN, go to Psy/Ops, trust me.
Default Gothic | Faceplate Sans | Reform | Reykjavik Herra
& Urru | Sophisto | Transfer Sans ... Need I go on?
