Billboard Chart fonts probably c. 1969

jklux's picture

I'm trying to identify the font(s) used in this Billboard Magazine chart. I believe, based on the songs listed, that this is from 1969 or thereabouts. That's all the information I have. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

News Gothic?

News Gothic seems very close. Some of the letters in NG seem to be a bit more rounded (like that capital C)...

Given the time period, it's more likely to be Trade Gothic, the Mergenthaler Linotype version of News Gothic...

Yes, it's a member of the News Gothic family. It's an old metal type font called News Gothic Condensed, Regular and Bold.

But the face used in the smaller-sized line at the bottom is Intertype's Vogue, their answer to Futura.
