How about writing about the tools and materiales we first used to write and how they shaped the letterforms we use today?

In a type design class, I demonstrated how to make a font by pouring salt on black paper.

I once had a student who made letters by arranging seaweed.

Look at the figures in fat face types.

Or Art Noveau.

AS much as we may surround our selves with cement, plastic and glass, we are no less a part of nature than anything else on earth. You can't really step out of nature, so what's your definition of nature? Where do you draw the line.

My point: perhaps you could look at old signage - rusting, pealing, crumbling, covered in lichen, mould - Home to birds. Going back to nature.
