Around January 1960?
JMB was well known for doing everything in Akzidenz Grotesk... as for which version, I don't know.
Rite, still going to try and find the specific version. The poster was published in 1960.

This sample is quite far from Akzidenz Grotesk.
This font shows up on a number of the Musica Viva posters from 1956 through 1961. I looked the series up on a local Poster Gallery's website (internationalposter.com).
I used to work for Peter Megert, a JMB apprentice, he also used this face as did many Swiss for posters that were usually silkscreened. He simply referred to it as "The Berthold" meaning AG. This looks like photo type, perhaps a Typositor.
