My first typeface attempt

Sarcoma's picture

Hi,
I am graphic design student and have set my self the task of designing a typeface over the summer break.
I started off from some sketches but had no real goal other than to produce a typeface and learn how to use fontlab in the process.
Anyway I'd like to know what you think and would appreciate any guidance.

It looks very promising! Keep glyphing...

Thanks very much Frank, I certainly will I have caught the bug.
But I've been looking at them so long I'm not sure where I am with it all.
I have had trouble keeping the stroke widths consistent and balanced, well I still am actually and there a some glyphs that I I feel look little awkward.
I was wondering what people make of it.

I really like the style! It resembles 'Augusta Roman'.

Cheers Danny,
I'm really glad of the support.
I wasn't entirely sure quite what style it was.
I did a search but couldn't find ‘Augusta Roman’ do you have a link?

My fault for the spelling! It's 'Augustea 0pen'
