(x) A Blackletter gotisch - probably modified Ardenwood {self (Michael F)}

MiiKael's picture

Look like a bold version of Ardenwood. I tried my best to find this font but nothing came even close to it. This is probably from Germany in the 16th century (close to this one : http://cg.scs.carleton.ca/~luc/FrankChouteauBrown-16thCentury-GermanBlac...)

In particular, make sure that:

  • the file name does not contain spaces (or any other ø∂∂ ¢håræct€rs)
  • you have the right Flash plugin installed with your browser

In the meantime:
Aeronaut, maybe?

@Rainer: I’ve seen that link, but I assumed that Michael is actually looking for something else (‘close to this one’).

The graphic is linked to on http://cg.scs.carleton.ca/~luc/fontbooks.html
It is from a book from 1921 on book lettering. Get used to the fact that this is, as it says, 16th c. calligraphy. Mind the two e's in "Sixteenth". You won't find it as a font unless someone fonted it (which would include "inventing" all the caps except for S and C).

Jim Fordyce's Diamond Gothic (freeware) is similar, but wider. Manfred Klein's Dueres Minuskeln (according to Albrecht Dürer) are similar too. Dieter Steffmann issued a "Gothenburg Fraktur" which seems to be a completed form of a "Gothenburg" font from the "IMSI Masterfont collection" (mostly clones and pirated fonts, Gothenburg seems to be cloned from - sorry, thought I'd seen it somewhere else but couldn't find it any more).

Somehow the image I've uploaded did it make it (my bad) so now it's there (first post) and also here : http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/5971/monsterdeluxe.png

Anybody??

MiiKael's picture

Sorry for the double thread, it's probably Ardenwood (the real version not the demo) as the text is basically the same except the swashes which look like cut/tweaked version of them.

Florian Hardwig's picture

Alright, no problem. Do you want me to mark this case solved, Michael?

MiiKael's picture

Yup as it's a tweaked/custom version of Ardenwood (unless someone did a "released" version).

Thank you :)

Another similar typeface: Yari from Kinema Moon.
