Do you know any split serif typefaces?

DJcoolICE's picture

Good day,
I am currently investigating split serif typefaces and I am eager to find as many as I can. Currently I have found these three.

1. Buckeroo ITC

2. Bujardet Freres

3. Captain Howdy

I have also noticed that the biker gang Hells Angels use a split serif font on their vests.

In which ways have you seen this unlikely kind of serif used?

Thanks for your feedback,
William

One of the character sets of Jean-François Porchez's Retiro share these characteristics. There is another neo-Didot/neo-Didone which does too.

Hi,
I used a split serif in a headline for an article about "split personalities"... a bit obvious perhabs but still nice. It was some years ago and teh original document is gone, so unfortunately I don't have the name of the font. It looks a bit like "Tuscandy" under the myfont selection above though.

Bitstream Arrus has milder split serifs which get more obvious in the bold.

The term is bifurcated. I believe.

D - I wasn't saying you couldn't call them split-serif.

Great replies, thanks everybody.

Karinskij, I'm pretty sure it is the face Tuscandy - I took it to what the font - and what a lovely spread you made with it. Dojr, retiro is an interesting face too, lots of things happening but still remaining on the useful side. Bitstream arrus looks like you might be able to set running text with it.

Have a nice day.

Arrus is awesome. Richard Lipton is so good it's not fair.

T, my apologies, I did not mean to criticise or comment on your choice of terms, just to post a link from my fonts. Sorry abotu the confusion. D.

You could possibly look up western- or circus- style. Most of these I could say, based on what I see, have this old western or circus entertainment feel, so you could probably google these terms and see if you come up with any more hits
