You just saved my life Nick! I was totally wrong... It's clearly not Times New Roman... but Times New Roman Bold!
Thanks to my new pair of glasses, here is what I finally got only after 15 minutes of intensive work (mainly (re)moving points and matching original kerning).

I am surprised i couldn't find a thread discussing this, but I suspect it is custom lettering, probably based on Bodoni.
