I'm not really sure what to say, this piece of design though rather functionless, is still pretty impressive in a fantastic future sort of way.

Oh, for a minute I thought you said enema.

It's due to the rotation of the earth. In the afternoon the bytes have to flow uphill, while the rest of the day they are going downhill (except in Australia, where they go counterclockwise.)

Asvetic, where does your afternoon take place? :) There are certianly times of the day when traffic is especially high - usually when most of North America is at the office trying to avoid work [morning and afternoons].

Oh I sit in a tiny little cubical and surf the web all day, occasionally I'll design something. As my profile indicates, I'm in the middle of Pennsylvania along the Eastern Coast of the United States of America.
There are definitely days when I try to open Typophile.com and all I get is a bunch of page loading errors/504 errors. Today, I started surfing around 8am Eastern and wasn't able to connect to Typhophile until about 12:15pm Eastern.
