I´m looking for a font that has the outer shape similiar to HTFGotham but follows the buildup of the neon sign used in the attatched Chicago movie poster. In other words an outline font.
Outer glow? No?
No outer glow, no bitmap font please.
How much type do you need to set? You can always take your favorite caps and add a judicious stroke.
I´m looking for a predrawn font only.
It’s pretty hard to get that type of glow into a font. Vector and all… How come you can’t use Illustrator’s outer glow? Just make sure your bitmap effects settings have a proper dpi.
I'm not looking for a glow. I am merely interested in the structure of the framework (sort of like a neon sign without the neon in it. In other words a traditional b&w font that follows the line of a neonsign. I know I've seen it but unsure where. It was drawn by a professional typedesigner and had the feeling of a grotesque light meets black font.
Prisma is close to the effect you want, but not an exact match for H&FJ Gotham.
(And it's free!)
It seems to me if it is Gotham you want you coud used Gotham.
Quick and dirty neon courtesy CSP Neons found at Adobe.com in the Expert Area.
Oops. Ok. Sorry. I opened this thread before you said anything about no outer glow.
Prisma is at least a step in the right direction however I was hoping to find a font that was more monowidth if you understand (reffering esp. to the S which is to narrow). Also I was hoping the lines would follow around a corner and go back up (connect in a neonlike loop)
The lovechild of Linotype Piccadilly and Gotham?
Fenotype has a couple of fonts like that, not sure if they you, though. Not exactly Gotham.
Another “not quite what you’re looking for” font — ShineOn
Cressida and Cressida Swash?
Lusta (bit narrow)
