TTF problem in Fontlab

•Prakash Nair's picture

For some reason, I cant seem to save the metrics information onto a ttf file. PFB work fine, no problem but I need it in TTF. I adjusted the kerning for hours on end and now it seems it doesn't save that information! Please help someone.

Prakash,

we'd surely help if we had at least some basic information about the software you use.

1. What operating system are you building your fonts on?
2. What application do you use to build your fonts?
3. What operating system do you use to test the fonts?
4. What applications do you use to test your fonts?

Oh yea sorry.
1. XP Pro
2. Fontlab Studio 5
3. XP Pro
4. Illustrator and Word.

Which Word? Did you activate kerning in Word? Which Illustrator? Is the kerning visually missing in both Illustrator and Word? What export settings do you have in FontLab Studio for kerning?

Do you have OpenType Layout features in your font? If not, disable "Export OpenType Layout tables". Also (I repeat the question), did you activate kerning in Word?

If your attempts fail, please contact Fontlab Ltd. through the problem report form at
http://www.fontlab.com/Support/Technical-Support/

A.

Tried that without any luck. How do you activate kerning in Word? I have never heard of a feature in existence!

> How do you activate kerning in Word?

Select Format, Font, Character Spacing, then check the Enable Kerning box for fonts above 1 pt.
