It is not free. It costs $39.

At least free to try for 30 Days.
Afterwards, you can install it in a different directory?!

Ouuch. I'm sure this will make typefaces look better... The website design is also top class, HA HA. Sorry, but things like this really makes me laugh.

pattyfab's picture

Wow, way to make some truly horrifying type disasters.

A lot of these features are available in photoshop anyway.

blank's picture

Wow, it's like flashing back to the Action Xchange circa Photoshop 5.0...

Miss Tiffany's picture

For the true type masochist!

Sadly, I remember all of them--the same way I remember the Tet Offensive of 1968.

ChrisL

Remembering them is one thing. Still using them is another.

dezcom's picture

LOL!

Adobe Type Twister was an add-on centuries ago when I bought PageMaker -- it was dumb them, and even when Microsoft ported something similar to PowerPoint.

Beware!

(No, really....)

You can create quite simply a 3D button, a fade effect or an impressive frame around the text.

impressive is the word.

ben_archer's picture

In the beginning there was... (and I'm sure the irony in their headline was well intended)

pattyfab's picture

Ouch! The kerning!

Linda Cunningham's picture

Definitely not for the claustrophic!

canderson's picture

Why pay expensive graphic design professionals when you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost?

pattyfab's picture

Carl I hope you are being sarcastic.

dezcom's picture

Ahhh, the 80s, x-heights on steroids, ITC tight spaced faces, then track'em-til-you-crack'm typesetting. Hard to believe but this kind of thing looked really normal then :-)

ChrisL

dezcom's picture

c'mon Carl, you left out the bevel & twist!
:-)

Mmmm.... Don'tcha love that 80's tightly tracked ITC Garamond.

I haven't seen that for a while – Isn't it time for a resurrection?

Actually I'm sad to say that it does live on:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/theholiday/ _
I'd slap the guy who did that, except he's probably in his 60s...

hhp

pattyfab's picture

That IS bad. And can someone please explain to me the appeal of Jack Black? I know we're off topic here but since this topic was such a non-starter I don't feel so bad.

hrant's picture

Have you seen "Nacho Libre"? There's some pretty crappy things in it, but
there's also something very special about it - which I can't put my finger on.

hhp

pattyfab's picture

Well no - I haven't seen that. I saw him in King Kong and a few other things and to me he's just a fat slob who's really full of himself. I could see how this would work in a broad comedy, but they seem to be marketing him as a romantic lead. That's what I don't get. As a lady... I say no thanks.

hrant's picture

Many women like misfits because they're easier to control.
I'm glad to see that you don't seem to be one of them.

hhp

pattyfab's picture

Yeah well lots of men like controlling women, unfortunately.

I generally prefer the misfits actually.

"I’d slap the guy who did that, except he’s probably in his 60s"

That's OK Hrant, I'm in my 60s, I'll slap him for you :-)

Actually, it was probably some young guy in his 20s doing what he thinks is a "cool retro thing".

ChrisL

dezcom's picture

So then you would have liked James Dean then Patty :-)

ChrisL

Linda Cunningham's picture

Nick's comment about "Mmmm…. Don’tcha love that 80’s tightly tracked ITC Garamond. I haven’t seen that for a while – Isn’t it time for a resurrection?"

Only if we're talking zombies and the Land of the Living Dead.... ;-)

And I'm with Patty -- I gave up on fat dumb slobs years ago too.

It could be worse:

pattyfab's picture

Comic Sans + cheap and crappy type manipulation tool = the 7th circle of hell

dezcom's picture

Next week Holiday Inn will be using that thing as a logo but they won't pay Lex for it :-)

You people crack me up! I keep coming back to typophile because the entertainment value here is so enormous... much of it is self-parody (which I guess is what I see in Jack Black – although actually the free poster for Nacho Libre was enough for me).

Actually, it was probably some young guy in his 20s doing what he thinks is a “cool retro thing”.

I think you're right on the money there, Chris.
