Recent New Yorker article about type designer?

Someone told me they had seen an article about a type designer not too long ago the The New Yorker magazine. Anyone know who it was about? What issue it was in? (Apparently the New Yorker doesn't believe in having an online index to their magazine issues, so I found nothing with any searches there or with Google.)

Thanks

Thanks Justin. That must have been it, although he didn't think it was that long ago.

Chris, nice poster, but 'Trajan'? Why not 'Galliard', or something designed by Carter?

Chris - you are one of the best things to happen to Typophile in '05.

Mike's got a point. Mantinia would be perfect here. The anti-Trajan by the Man himself.

pure genius!

Thanks guys.
Why Trajan? Two reasons: one, it was the font used in the original "Rockstar" movie; two, it is such a cliché movie font. I guess I was going more for comedy than for something that was done by Matthew (three, I don't have Mantinia:-) although now I see how gorgeous it is, I am tempted to buy it!).

"...best things to happen to Typophile in ‘05." Does that mean I have outstayed my welcome? :-)

You continue to be a great thing. But you can't always be the best. The best thing to happen in '06 was image upload.

Oh wait. That was 2005 too. Uh. I got nuthin'.

It's only July - the best is yet to come!

Thanks Stephen!
and Image upload gets my vote too!

On a similar note there's a Canadian publication called Azure that had an interview with Jonathan Hoefler a couple of months back I seem to recall.

' The best thing to happen in ‘06 [or '05] was image upload.'

Now you have hit on a sore point for me! Image upload only works with new operating systems. Mac OS9 doesn't cut it any more, but the 'old' Typophile could handle it just fine. It's techno-discrimination I tell you!

I hear ya, Mike, but in this cruel democracy we gotta benefit the vast majority at the expensive of the few. I'll bet the population of Typophile OS9 users doesn't exceed 5%.

Sadly, you're worth more than the average user. Who's going to donate an OS X Mac to the great Mr. Yanega!? I'll donate the time to train him!
