"Combining" two fonts into one?

For font families such as Perpetua and Perpetua Expert where the numerals are "old style" in Perpetua Expert but Roman in Perpetua - is it possible to have a single "combined" font containing the lettering of one font and the numerals of the other?

Yes. In fact, Perpetua Standard contains the full character sets of both fonts, with appropriate OpenType layout features to access them.

I'm a newbie - for Perpetua Standard, how would one access the desired numeral style?

Assuming you'd be using InDesign, you just have to select them from the OpenType panel.
