Daemen College to host SOTA TypeGallery2003 during Typografia event

BUFFALO, NY, NOVEMBER 4, 2003 - The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) has announced that its TypeGallery2003 will be exhibited at Daemen College in Amherst, New York, November 7-December 7, 2003. TypeGallery2003 will be displayed during Typografia, an exhibition focusing on new typefaces and the development process of type design.

This exhibition of TypeGallery2003 features an unjuried showcase of 75 new type designs from around the globe; Letras Latinas, a juried selection of 20 typeface designs from South America; and exhibits from the University of Minnesota Design Institute's Typeface Twin Cities project.

Typografia will launch Friday, November 7, commencing with presentations by indie type designers Richard Kegler, P22 type foundry, and James Grieshaber, Typeco. Kegler and Grieshaber, both based in western New York near Daemen, will discuss the evolution of their design careers and show examples of their work. An opening reception will follow, featuring live music by Odiorne and local DJ team deja blu. Refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.

The Typografia exhibition is located in the Fanette-Goldman Gallery in Duns Scotus Hall, Daemen College, 4380 Main Street in Amherst. Presentations will take place from 4-5 pm in the Daemen College Audio-Visual Center, with the opening reception scheduled for 7-10 pm in the gallery.
