Type suggestions for project on Morocco
Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to give.
I’m working on a (student) project where I’ll be creating a small exhibition
space describing some aspects of Maroc.
While I will have some arabic text (for atmosphere), this exhibit would be
geared to the English speaker, so I’ll need an English-langage typeface to
deliver my information.
I’ll be discussing primarily the people and crafts of the country — and not
the showcardianism of Bogey’s Casablanca, et al.
Any suggestions for type that might have some interesting features but
remain readable? A touch of the arabesque without being campy?
Thanks again.

Will there be lots of text to read? Is there a catalog, or just signage? Point sizes, media, lighting, etc.?

crossgrove,
good points. note that this will be a scale model repro, although
that doesn’t lessen my necessity to be more specific.
no catalog. signage definitely, as well as some large text panels.
i am not sure of the point size—which will vary by the face chosen—
but open to suggestions of size/face pairings for easy viewing.

and yes, there were be a goodly amount of information, but probably
no more than 1000 words distributed about the space (10’x10’x8’).

Good. I just hope that you’re going to talk about The Classic Book “Marrakesh dans les Palmes” - André Chevrillon (around the 1920s)

ITC Barcelona.
random, but i think the word “Morrocco” looks quite nice and there’s a little bit of a cultural connection with the whole Spain/Morrocco thing…

I’d go for ITC Quorum — same league as Barcelona, obviously.
