I have searched every where I know for this one.

Please help if you can.

Thank you.

Thank you for reminding me. I DO get a little
self-centered since I got credited co-moderator.

Are you inferring something Dan?

Yves, Eduardo Omine and Mike Yanega are no slouches when it comes to idenifing type. You have the troops at this site. Dan

All I can come up with are near misses.

Futura Script

Novelty Script by Solotype

Flair (in FontShop's Font Book, under "Script" pg 41) - Can't find it on their site

Gillies Gothic (FontShop)

Magneto (FontShop) - in the same vein, somewhat

wait! I think I found it, although in a lighter weight, in my Reardon & Krebs Typographers (1955, $5 at a garage sale) - I'm pretty confident this is it, but lighter.

Trafton Script [bold?] (by Bauer?) (Mentions: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Jared, I think you may have gotten as close as we can get to this one. I agree Trafton has many very similar features, but my guess is that it may have been a style model for this Trans Cal logo artwork. In other words, I think the reason we have had such a hard time with this is that it is not a font at all. (I know these are sometimes 'famous last words', but I just don't think this looks like any font I've seen except House Industries "Fabulous" (at the bottom of the page), which is also rather close to this. Trafton image follows (also from the Script Guide, and note that the letters do not connect -- something it's hard to tell from sample books):Trafton Sample

Any other thoughts?

Another quick thought.. Could the T and the C be a different font from the others .. or possibly hand drawn? and if so what font is the other part?

Frankly, to me this looks like some 50s air company
custom drawn logo, really. I haven't got high hopes
of someone finding an exact match. It all looks pretty
homogenous, so I don't think there's subsituted
characters or anything like that.

This post keeps bumping itself up toward the top of the list, despite having no new posts since Yves' sensible conclusion on the 19th.

Thought I'd see if a new post would cure what ails it.

Wow, now this is a long hunt...
Maybe a record for an “active” type-ID?
