I have spent way too much time toodling through various listings on MyFonts.com in a vain attempt to determine what style of font this is. It's not keyworded or categorized as linear, monoline, script, swash, loopy, decorative, alternate, curly, or fancy...
I think I've covered all of the most obvious characteristics of this sample. Perhaps I'm missing something completely, or else the face is simply keyworded incorrectly.
OK. I have no idea how hard or easy this might be for you experts. Any responses from me will have to wait until I've slept off a 12-hour night shift, though.
Sorry Hrant. I hope that you didn't cramp up or anything.
I kind of got the impression that nobody except Stan & I wanted to come out and play. Maybe it was just the weekend. Thought I'd wait to see if anybody noticed the lack of an ID target. I've got three sample images all ready to go. Here's the first:
The funny thing is I didn't even know the face half an hour before posting the solution. I accidently stumbled onto it on the Gingko Press website when checking the correct spelling for Laurie Haycock Makela.
I'm just back from rehearsing, smelling like sweat and stale beer (my idea of a fun evening), and I'll be out for the next 10 hours (sleeping and stuff like that, yaknow). I'll check in tomorrow morning when I arrive at work. TTFN!
Hmmm... interesting guess. It has the same sharp protruding corner, but notice that in my sample the join between the curve and the straight bit has no little indent. (I guess I really have to brush up my Typophilese) But non, mon ami.
The pronounced trapping (oh no, don't say that word too often or hhp and GG will hijack this thread ) is part of the solution, that's why I included a bit of the "armpit" in my selection.

Anyone want a hint?
3.Sep.2003 12.00am
yep
3.Sep.2003 12.23am
OK -- the font can be found on MyFonts, and the designer is based in the US, in the eastern time zone.
3.Sep.2003 1.21am
Chesh, can you show more of the glyph?
3.Sep.2003 10.41am
It has sort of an underlying loopy monoline Giddyup, Hairspray, Sissyboy feel, but frankly I'm still stumped.
3.Sep.2003 11.13am
OK, here's a little more...

Aaagh!
Chesh, you're such a tease.

You're right, Grant, it doesn't have too many classifications on MyFonts. As this glyph seems to be a stumper, here's another from the same font:

Aaux Regular's 'g'?

Nice job, Mike -- that's exactly it. Here's the original glyph:

Well I'll be darned. MyFonts + keywords + luck = Jackpot for Regular Joe.
Gimme a few minutes folks. I didn't take into account the repercussion of a correct guess ...

Is it something I said? My breath?

The typeface was designed in the 1950's. Here's a third partial character. I'll reveal more of the same glyph if need be.

Sounds like a reasonable excuse to me ... I guess ... maybe.
Well, to anyone who has seen the typeface before, this next
sample image might be a clincher.
