Hello, this is my firtst post here!

Could anyone please let me know what the font of the main text in this article is?

'Proxima Nova' with alternate 'a'

I don't think it's Proxima Nova, there many differences not just the /a:
/E middle bar is higher (on sample)
/y & /l are obviously different
/e, /b, /d also look different (vertical bar of /b/d is shorter on sample)
...

Whatfont app says Proxima Nova too …

You are both right, it is actually "Proxima Nova A" (I suppose "A" stand for alternate) which contains alternate characters for /y/l/ etc:
