Another round of Six Degrees of Stephen Coles?

Jared Benson's picture

For those of you who missed it the first time around, join us for another round of Six Degrees of Stephen Coles!

Ok, up for the challenge?

Starting at a site in which Stephen Coles is a guest editor, can you connect our beloved type deity Mr. Coles with a "patriotically attired Chihuahua" in exactly 5 clicks?

Whoever posts the answer first gets to post the next challenge.

And of course, thanks to Stephen for letting us have some fun affirming his position at the center of the type universe.

> patriotically attired Chihuahua

Stars & Stripes, or the Mexican colors?

beejay's picture

deh! I guess I should read the instructions.
By 'clicks' do you mean actual links on a page?

> Stars & stripes

Then that's not a patriotic dog, that's a perro traidor.

OK. So I didn't traverse the six degrees, but I found this in 4 clicks and thought it was worth sharing anyway.

1. Stephen guest ed. at coudal
2. Post about early visual poetry
3. Link to ubuweb
4. Found+Insane

So it's not a chihuahua and it's not the stars and stripes, but by god it's nice.

eomine's picture

this is too hard, jared.
give us more hints! :D

eomine's picture

thanks again, jared.

next challenge: connect mr coles to "silver surfer" in 5 actual clicks.

hint #1: start at one of his posts today in typophile.

eomine's picture

i'm logging off now, so i'll give you a proper hint.

hint #2: bd4d.

eomine's picture

just to make it clear: the starting point is
stephen

eomine's picture

come on, is this so hard?

hint #4: not that super-hero.

eomine's picture

ok, nobody is interested, so i

Isaac's picture

how did i miss that? i ended up at bd4d,
but i was looking for, y'know, silver surfer.
then i think i went to sleep.

eomine's picture

>i think i went to sleep.

yeah, it's almost bedtime for me too here.
btw, isaac, you can post the next challenge, but
i think nobody is actually interested in this
anymore.

Isaac's picture

well, alright. i'll have to do some research.

Isaac's picture

right then. connect the celebrated mr. coles with
a font called cameralight in just seven, yes seven,
clicks. i should probably just tell you to start at
www.typograpi.ca, so there, i told you.

Isaac's picture

oops. www.typographi.ca.
and try the right hand side, you know, maybe the principals.

Isaac's picture

alright. atomic media. is that easier?

matteson's picture

Didn't want you to feel neglected Isaac ;-)

http://typographi.ca/
http://www.atomicmedia.net/
http://atomicmedia.net/maindex.php
http://atomicmedia.net/links.php
http://www.girlswhowearglasses.com/
(OK, in here I clicked about 3 dozens times trying to get to Snapfonts through a billion obtuse and unlinked pages. Bloody impossible.)
http://www.snapfonts.com/fonts.html
http://www.snapfonts.com/cameralight.html

Isaac's picture

i agree, that whole thing is a mess. and thanks for making me feel better.
i just didn't want coles to feel like we didn't care anymore.

matteson's picture

Christ, you know, I forgot I was supposed to post another one of these. But...

>you can post the next challenge, but
i think nobody is actually interested in this
anymore.

...is this the general consensus? Should I not bother? I have to dig one up anyway, so if anyone has an opinion, let me know.

Thanks.

cheshiredave's picture

JLT, Stewf gets all the babes only 'cause they know you're already married.

eomine's picture

>...is this the general consensus? Should I

i think the "problem" with this thread is that
people cannot guess. i mean, you get it or not.
there's no room for guesses.
imo, this is what is making this thread so quiet.
i don't know, maybe we should drop the "actual
links" rule, and make it more like the first "six
degrees" round.

porky's picture

I got completly confused in the first round, and thought that you were meant to suggest totally obscure connections and let others discover the links.

Hmmm. I'm not the brightest cookie in the candle shop. Clearly I'm two planks short of a picnic.

Jared Benson's picture

Hint #1: Wired Magazine

Jared Benson's picture

Stars & stripes.

Sorry BJ, no good. It's got to start at a site where Stephen is guest editor and ends on a page with the Chihuahua.

Hint #2: Not Typographi.ca

Jared Benson's picture

If you do it right, you'll land on the Chihuahua after 5 actual clicks, yes.

Jared Benson's picture

Yet Another Hint: type "Stephen Coles guest editor" into Google to figure out where to start.

Jared Benson's picture

OK, so we've established that you start at coudal.com.

The first click has to do with Photoshop...

Jared Benson's picture

Congratulations, Eduardo! Feel like posting the next one?

anonymous's picture

I thought *I* was Typographi.ca! Jeesh. Stephen gets all the babes, too.

Stephen Coles's picture

Typographica is JLT. He's just extra quiet so he might
not embarass me with his superiority. What a guy.

Where are these babes? Direct me to these babes.

beejay's picture

1. patriotic dog featured in wired mag. (google "patriotically attired Chihuahua"
2. wired mag uses typography/art from multi-talented patric king.
3. patric king is a principal* at typographi.ca
4. stephen IS typographi.ca.

is that what you had in mind.

* very formal made-up title

bj

:-)

you let Mr. Earls off the hook for his last one in the old thread. David, what's the linkage on that one, eh?
