18th century mechanical writing machine with a programmable font

I thought perhaps some people here would get a kick out of this 18th-century Swiss automaton, that writes letters on a page using a set of programmable mechanical instructions, an analog version of today's engraving and Leroy machines.

I first read about him in a Danish radio/electronics magazine, Populær Radio, in late '70s to early '80s.

Lovely stuff indeed.

Good to hear those mechanical noises. If they were silent and I'll we heard were sighs and the occasional giggle ... I would be creeped out!
