Email notification was down for me for a day or so last week, but it seems to be working for me now. But I have a sneaking suspicion that Yves somehow hacked into the system and disabled it, effectively reducing his competition. I'm on to you, buddy.
I thought my email notification was OK after having been down last week, but now I see a bunch of messages here I'd never seen... That's worse than if it hadn't come back at all!! :-/
Last week I tried to do some email hacks, effectively breaking the system. Although, I don't blame you for casting the suspicious eye toward our resident waffle.
Next time I'll be more forthcoming and fess up if I sew up the patient with the wrench still inside.

It's an ampersand.
18 Aug 2003 — 12:27pm
BTW, I've compiled a "Leader Board" for the ID Pop Quiz.
Anyone want to see it, or should I keep it to myself?
18 Aug 2003 — 12:30pm
Interested
but perhaps, open a new topic to kept this one clean.
18 Aug 2003 — 1:01pm
> Does anyone know what letter it is now?
Hey, this isn't Letter ID Pop Quiz.

email notification went back down as soon as it was up
...isn't Yves sleeping right now.
I think he has been cleared as a suspect.
to the resident tricksters: Is there a trick to follow what's
happening without email notification.
18 Aug 2003 — 7:37pm
We need more, Colin. ;-)
18 Aug 2003 — 8:11pm
Wimps!
Okay, this is the last of this view. It's at the same point size, just shifted over a bit. Maybe I'll give a different view next time.
Anyone want verbal clues?
18 Aug 2003 — 8:29pm
Not Poetica.
18 Aug 2003 — 8:32pm
Thanks. I'm going to sleep now, but if no one gets it by tomorrow I have a few more clues I can give.
19 Aug 2003 — 8:03am
Good morning. Centuar Italic Alternate.
19 Aug 2003 — 8:18am
Grant got it.
19 Aug 2003 — 10:00am
Here you go kiddies. Knock yourselves out.

19 Aug 2003 — 10:41am
Jonisch Light?
19 Aug 2003 — 10:45am
or Lichte Jonisch
19 Aug 2003 — 2:07pm
I was thinking Dennis Ortiz-Lopez, but I can't find a specific typeface of his that matches this.
19 Aug 2003 — 3:53pm
Grand Canyon RR Campfire
19 Aug 2003 — 6:47pm
Oops. Sorry, I was snoozing there. Stan nailed it. Red Rooster's Grand Canyon Campfire it is. Not to be confused with the Land Fill or Toxic Sludge weights.
19 Aug 2003 — 7:37pm
Extra points if you can name the film it was inspired by.

19 Aug 2003 — 8:23pm
Peregroy?
19 Aug 2003 — 8:30pm
Based on 101 Dalmations?
19 Aug 2003 — 8:56pm
Correct: 101 extra points!

How fitting that a "snoopy" would know that
19 Aug 2003 — 11:03pm
Ooops forgot to add it's a upper case D. Anyways, here's my contribution
19 Aug 2003 — 11:11pm
Please forgive this newbie. In my previous post, the upper case D, I was referring to is for Peregroy not for the new picture I posted.
19 Aug 2003 — 11:29pm
suspect that it's the U from Neuland
19 Aug 2003 — 11:33pm
hmmm, the Neuland here
www.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/neuland/neuland/mac-ttf/26590/character/0075/CP4/
doesn't quite jive
19 Aug 2003 — 11:51pm
The P22 version here
http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/p22/koch-nueland/p22-koch-nueland/win-ttf/42394/character/0075/CP2/
jives a bit more, wouldn't you say?
19 Aug 2003 — 11:53pm
Wow you guys are amazing. Stan got it! It's the P22 Koch Nueland.
19 Aug 2003 — 11:54pm
P22 Koch Neuland!
Damn, you got me.
I was trying it at P22's Typecaster as you posted!
Nice work.
20 Aug 2003 — 12:01am
Dialup is for chumps I guess. Back to making fonts.
Stan, two IDs in one day, way to go.
bj
20 Aug 2003 — 1:43am
Hey, I thought you should get it, bj -- you were there first, just slightly off with the cut...
Anyway, moving on. I've always liked this face, but have never been too crazy about this eccentric character...
21 Aug 2003 — 11:44pm
No guesses? Too hard? So easy that I've shocked everyone to silence? Or did everyone just abandon this thread after Colin's ampersand?

The name of the font from the preceding quiz might provide a clue if necessary.
22 Aug 2003 — 12:26am
Hmmm, first thing that popped into my mind was the 8 from Acropolis, but no match there. It does remind me of P22 Arts and Crafts for some reason.
22 Aug 2003 — 12:43am
Not P22, but it is an 8.
22 Aug 2003 — 12:49pm
Hey, that's pretty close! But no.
Actually this typeface is about 70 years older than Seriatum.
22 Aug 2003 — 12:49pm
Hmm ... thought I had it in Font Diner's Guest Check (Brown Bag set), but the stroke is a bit too heavy.
22 Aug 2003 — 12:58pm
Designed by Rudolf Koch?
22 Aug 2003 — 1:09pm
Mike -- Guest Check was clearly inspired by this font, so credit to you there. Getting very close I think...

Not P22. Not Koch. The hint is in the other word.
22 Aug 2003 — 1:24pm
Is it available as a digital typeface?
22 Aug 2003 — 1:26pm
Yes, it's available as a digital typeface.
22 Aug 2003 — 1:32pm
Newport Classic SG?
http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/spiecegraphics/newport-classic-sg/
22 Aug 2003 — 1:34pm
Jared -- you got it! URW++ calls their version "Newport Land," explaining the hinted similarity in name to "Neuland."
22 Aug 2003 — 2:29pm
Gotham @?
22 Aug 2003 — 2:37pm
Tankard's Aspect?
