I need a typeface with ice cold nordic look and feel.
The custom design made by Helsinki Type Studio for the Finnish Design Museum.
As we can't find an available exact match, can I ask help to find the closest possible ?
I wouldn’t say this is close, but it could be used to similar effect.
And why not Alphaville?
I'm curious why only the S was made angular.
The design utilizes a 37˚ angled upstroke, which didn’t fit the construction of the /S, so its form is orthogonal.
(Although I did cheat with the /X, but that’s not used very much so I felt I could get away with it.)
I think he meant in that frankenfont linked in the OP.
Oh, I see.
I like that idea.
Similarly, one might ask why only the /I has serifs.
So it’s not a complete anomaly.
Well, thanks for your input, not thrilled, though...
Looks like I'll have to do my homework by myself !
