Italian Akzidenz

Hi Typohiles

I am looking for a typeface like Akzidenz Grotesk but the catch is it has to have been created by an Italian type designer.
Another option, has Akzidenz been redrawn by an Italian type designer in some shape or form?
If there are any other suggestions of similar typefaces that are Italian in origin I would be most grateful to here your thoughts.

Many thanks
Simon

Luc Devroy is a fountain of type-wealth on this case, too: Here his list of Italien type designers.

One of the most famous is Aldo Novarese. Have a look at his Recta for a mid 20th century sans serif …

AFAIK, Akzidenz Grotesk was drawn by Günter Gerhard Lange and wasn’t redrawn/digitized by any Italian designer.

Recta looks really good – many thanks indeed! Will go through Luc's list as well. Appreciate it.

An Italian type designer friend of mine was planning to embark on an AG revival, and went as far as to gather a large quantity of reference material, which they put in a heavy metal box, placed somewhat precariously on a high shelf. They never got around to the redesign, so it literally remains an Akzidenz waiting to happen.

Simon, funny.

Recta. A most unfortunately named font...

HVB, you should be grateful I didn't form my pun around Recta.

Dunno, HVB might consider that worth examining.
