I need the Vista and Windows 7 CJK fonts (Malgun, JhengHei and Meiro) on the Mac. Microsoft is directing me to the Ascender site, but the fonts are not available there. Does anyone know how to obtain these fonts. I'm aware that they are all over the internet, but my client would like to find a legal solution...

It's nice when a client is a good influence... :-)
Try emailing Ascender.

Hi -
that are ClearType fonts NOT running on Mac OS X - aren't they?
Google: "OS X Quartz vs. Windows ClearType"

But there are -legal- ways to get the CT fonts on OSX, either by buying them or by installing certain MS software products.
BTW, it's "funny" how that article promotes the illusion that Apple actually cares about text. The truth is, it's all about dumbing-down, because that's where the money is now.

I think Meiryo at least is included in MS Office for Mac.

@Hrant
Yes, already sent them a mail. No answer and MS in The Netherlands has no idea...
@Elbrecht
I think ClearType is not functioning on OS X, but the fonts can be used for print.
@Tom
Great info. How do you know this?

@Micha You can find lists of fonts included with Mac Office by searching for that on Google. As far as I know, there is no problem using any modern Windows fonts for CJK on a Mac.
