ReType releases 'Lavigne Display'

'Lavigne Display' is the first release of a type-family aimed at publications such as interior design and women magazines—anywhere a touch of distinction is to be desired. In the opinion of its designer, glossy magazines have been boring us with the same type families for years, with only a small group of fonts being used to denote refinement and sophistication.

The philosophy behind 'Lavigne' is to achieve the high contrast and other refinements observed in classic 'modern serif' typefaces, without borrowing too much from history. Accordingly, the main source of inspiration, was careful observation of pointed-pen calligraphy and sketching.

Tipoitalia magazine, second issue

Tipoitalia 2 gives a lot of attention to numbers. Compared with letters there is no doubt that these are a minor part of the typographic scene, but there is also no denying that on a par with letters they have their rightful place alongside the alphabet. Here we discuss the application of numbers on Italian clock dials and house numbers where due consideration for architectural circumstances is a necessity.
The Tipoteca Italiana has kindly printed an exclusive insert of very expressive wood type numbers. Another insert prepared by Enrico Tallone and printed by him in letterpress is part of the article on Alberto Tallone’s type – designed in the late 1940s, for the Tallone books – following a typographic tradition that goes back to the Renaissance.

TIPO releases Loreto

Typo is proud to announce the release of a new font family "Loreto"

This font gets its inspiration from the typography of the Manuale ad Usum (1721), printed by Jesuit missionaries who worked at the beginning of the XVIII century with communities of "Guaraná" native indians from the Northeast region of Argentina.
It is a manual of sacraments published by Paulo Restivo and some collaborators among the native population. This manual features the peculiarity of being the first printed piece where there is a record of the place where it was printed: at the Loreto mission.

The association “Friends of the Palatina Library and the Bodoni

which also need to be conserved in an appropriate polycarbonated box.

With a few hundred euros you can become affiliate of one of your alphabets
of choice. Or maybe you would like to adopt an entire Bodoni family?

The mentioned sum is used to restore an alphabetical set of Bodoni
