Design work of originality and distinction is often the result of individuals taking it upon themselves to do things differently:

* by moving away from the styles and conventions of their time;
* by not waiting to be asked and just doing it anyway;

* by undertaking projects which are driven by a desire to push the boundaries of what can be achieved; or

Voyeur font released

Sudtipos proud to announce the release of Voyeur

Since you like to look, Angel Koziupa and Alejandro Paul bring you Voyeur, an entirely different direction from their usual collaborations. This typeface attracts two opposite design theories by mixing bold and blocky modernism with delicate ornamentals. The unlikely mix is not haphazard, however. It is calculated with an alchemist's (or voyeur's) attention to detail. This font includes many, many different ornamental treatments, each adjusted specifically for its letter form counterpart. Open your glyph palette to find plenty more variation and alternative combinations.

P22 & IHOF Release New Fonts by Terry Wudenbachs

P22 announces new releases for March- 2 new fonts by Terry Wudenbachs for IHOF, based on designs from the Nebiolo Type Foundry.

P22 Slogan is a non-connecting script font that captures the essence of the lettering used in 1950s European advertising. Bold strokes of this brush-drawn face make this design a great choice for both retro design and contemporary work. The font is based on the 1957 design "Slogan" by Aldo Novarese for the Italian Nebiolo Type Foundry. At the time of its original release, it was touted for "striking publicity work". This new digitization accurately reproduces the outlines of the original not found in previous digital versions of this design. P22 Slogan is a non-Pro Opentype font that includes Central European characters.

P22 Nebiornaments contains over 100 ornaments based on the Italian Nebiolo Type Foundry designs of the 1950s. Many of these ornaments are designed to create complex patterns and continuous borders. The simple geometric shapes allow for endless combinations for a wide variety of uses.

The fifth annual Justin Howes memorial lecture

How did the first printers achieve the (almost impossible) task of getting crisp impressions of inked type onto paper, evenly, clearly and repeatedly? Well, quite often they did not manage it - this lecture will illustrate how some of the various faults and imperfections found in early printed books provide clues to fifteenth-century printing methods.

Ypsilon Editeur launches a collection dedicated to type designers

Ypsilon Éditeur announces the launch of the Bibliothèque typographique,
a new collection dedicated to type designers. Their first title, to be published in French and English, is José Mendoza y Almeida written by Martin Majoor & Sébastien Morlighem, introduction by Jan Middendorp.
