The New York is custom lettering that has been tweaked and refined over the years by, among others, Milton Glaser and Ed Benguiat.

hello friends!
long time reader first time poster.
right now i’m having a hard time detecting the name of TWO fonts that can be seen in the new york magazine, so i didn’t wanted to start a new thread. there’s nothing in google that mentions the fonts especifically.

www.nymag.com ,
one is the font contained in the logo, in italics
the other is in the tabs (news & features, restaurants, etc.)

any help would be much appreciated, and i’m happy to be here at the boards, finally.

Reminds me of Nobel too. Also resembles the old Vogue font which seems to have been redrawn for Vanity Fair (they are both Conde Nast, no?)

So very close to Jim Parkinson’s Richmond, which he designed for the SF Chronicle and describes as inspired by Dwiggins (Metro) and Erbar.

I am starting to wonder if

I am starting to wonder if it was a custom job - I’ve scoured all the ’pointed joint’ (M, N, W, A, etc.) faces that I can find on all the sites and still haven’t found something that matches completely. I guess it can’t hurt to try to shoot someone there an email and ask.

But if anyone else has some educated guesses, I welcome them.

I’m trying to ID this font - it’s used in New York magazine as their text bold font. It’s not unlike Geometric 415, but definitely different. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
