It was in the summer of 1982 that I, with the crucial guidance of my older brother, made my first "typeface": an 8×8 Armenian bitmap font on our newly acquired darling, the Commodore-64. Although the C64 was in fact our third computer (we'd previously had a couple of PETs) it was the first to open up this new world for me.
I vividly remember penciling in the squares on grid paper, turning those into byte values, and entering all the numbers into the BASIC language's "DATA" fields. Sometimes it feels like it was yesterday.
And here I am sounding like an old fart.
an unusual typographic experiment designed to explore the relationship between graphic design, typography and the reading of a page. [it] collects the responses of 70 international graphic designers when posed with the same brief – to design and lay out the first page of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, a text chosen in part because it directly references lettering as Pip searches for clues about his family from the letterforms inscribed on their tombstone. The brief encouraged the 70 contributors to explore, challenge or celebrate the conventions of book typography. Each layout is accompanied by a short rationale explaining the designer’s decision-making process.
Arial isn't, the type high is bigger than by Arial - sorry for my bad english.

Fictional magazine covers from Blade Runner... as shown in the blade runner bonus feature "Signs of the Times: Graphic Design". The covers were created by production illustrator Tom Southwell in 1980-1981 and appeared in the background on a magazine stand in the city streets.
I tried posting this on my personal blog/site and it crashed in a really nasty way — repairing that is going to take ages. As well as other things.
The thing is: my girlfriend passed away on July 7, on the 52d day in hospital and care — a second brainstem stroke proved to be unsurmountable (is that a word?). I don’t have words for how I feel about this (and somehow I still have to share…).
So now I am designing cards and ads featuring ‘her’ font: National Light (are you reading this, Kris?).
www.miepjukkema.nl (that’s still running ok)
I have been trying to locate this font for a client to recreate a logo for them.
If anyone can help with this I would greatly appreciate it.
Hello everyone! I recently started this new design blog (3 months ago) and I'm glad to share it with you guys :) The blog is about logo designs, both creative and design-rich logotypes. All of the designs is featured from dribbble. I mainly started it because of my love to logo designs, that's actually also how I came up with the name "Logo Crush". It now has a capacity of over 250+ design-rich logotypes (and counting), to inspire, learn from or simply to enjoy!
In music Chorus means a collective effort to sing in unison. Harmony and uniformity are it's key characteristics, the same has been integrated in this typeface. Every letterform has been designed so as to reflect harmony and uniformity when used together to form a letter,

Statut is a ceremonial, elegant and highly readable display typeface with humanistic proportions based on Renaissance inscriptions.
This sophisticated typeface is excellent for a variety of uses, including branding of hotels, cafes, restaurants, packaging of premium-class food products, editorial design as well as for projects in fashion industry. Also Statut will fit within projects with a potentially high cultural and historical significance.
Statut typeface has been created under the influence of calligraphic works by Belarusian artist Pavel Semchenko. Works by Semchenko reveal the essence as well as unique characteristics of Belarusian writings in the slavic writing system.

Once again the sensibility of Paolo Roversi inspires me drawing my letters. These photos are from an old Ferretti ad campaign (1998 I think). The characters are from my „Webadvanced“ font. A thicker but meant to be elegant character which I’d love to keep some elegance and liveliness even in the smaller sizes on monitor. What a hard way to go!
I am listening to the beautiful semiclassical music of William Orbit.
I Like this font very much but I am not able to see where to get it and what is the name of this font. As you can see the style of A, K, M and W I am not able to get it.

This a turn of the century R. Hoe cast iron press approx. 22 by 29 platen with a rack and pinion instead of a rounce , and the platen has been thickened for rigidity making it quite strong and reliable. The Cincinnati pres I worked on, in the attachment, an earlier model had a thin platen with large fin braces could still print a large folio the size of a sheet of Roma handmade laid.
Also attached are some cases of hand type from the bank, galleys, and a form.
The sideways galley has Ludlow lines in it. I'll correct it at some point.
Please note; you can control click on large images to open in a new widow if need be.
Here are some sticks showing matrices in line and a specimen sheet, not sure if it will appear large enough, but will scan anew if need be.
The fun in the Ludlow is the setting or composing is much like setting cast type or foundry type by hand in a composing stick. one gets to adjust word space and some letter space and ligature mats are available as well as some swash.
