Tropicana Redesign
“dumbest-moments-in-business” - http://finance.yahoo.com/career-work/article/107261/dumbest-moments-in-b...
Out of 10, the Tropicana redesign was #2!!
>>2. Tropicana’s Botched Redesign
Tropicana drinkers, it turns out, are as passionate about packaging as they are about pulp. That’s why they rebelled when parent company PepsiCo and consultancy Arnell overhauled the juice line’s packaging in January as part of a $35 million branding campaign called “Squeeze.”
Tropicana fans said the simplicity of the new design reminded them of store-brand generics. And who wants to be mistaken for a generic consumer?

typo pop-up book

ABC3D pop-up book [1] is an amazing little gem, produced by Marion Bataille. It’s a game of letters, the whole alphabet will pop up whilst flicking through the pages and some of transform into other letters. The I becomes a K, the K an I depending on which strap you draw. I t plays with sweet little effects. like mirror and transparent paper to get different letters from the same “base”. Check out the video, a loveley presentation of the book with very fun music [2], which surely describes it better than my words...

Well...
here goes nothing,
I’ve never been much of a blogger so I’m not really sure how this usually goes, to me it makes sense to start with an introduction. My name is Jim and I am graphic designer getting started in the field. I have a BA and about a year of experience in print production. I am very interested in type but I am not a type designer. I would like to try it and hope to soon.
My intent with this blog is to use it as an exercise for myself to think about type in new way. Let’s see what happens.

FontStruct
So I’m new to FontStruct. I think it’s sort of complicated, but it’s not as complicated as creating a whole font from scratch.
When I sit down to create a font, I get some kind of creative overload, block, thing. I think that this will be easy, but then I have all these worries. What if the font looks too much like all the ones I’ve seen? What if everyone thinks it’s horrible? How do I even get started on this thing? It’s all so stressful to me.
I can say this. My most favorite fonts are sans serif. I like them to be clean with very little flair. That’s about it.
Any advice is more than welcome.

Introduction
Hello Typophile community. My name is Jamie. I joined typophile so that I may learn more about typography. I’m not very good at creating a font, and I get tired of using the same old font in a lot of my identity designs. Well I don’t use the same font, but you know what I mean. It seems like a broken record to me. I would like to have some more creativity under my belt.
My favorite type of logos are the ones that have a clever use of negative space, and ones that use text more effectively than just at the bottom or to the side of the logo.
Thanks for reading and I hope I can prove to be somewhat useful here.
